The Legend of Baron To'a
A light-hearted action flick
Mild-mannered Tongan entrepreneur, Fritz (Uli Latukefu, recently cast as a young Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in his upcoming comedy series) returns to the home where he spent his youth growing up in the shadow of his wrestling superstar father, Baron To’a. But upon his arrival, Fritz is dismayed to discover that in the years since he left, an unruly gang has moved into the cul-de-sac and run roughshod over the entire community. When those punks steal the prized championship belt of Baron To’a, it’s up to Fritz to take back the neighborhood and reclaim his father’s legacy.

The Last Blockbuster
A video store love-letter documentary
It’s not often we get to witness the rise and fall of an entire industry in the span of a generation, but that’s exactly what the world saw happen to the video store business: from the original ‘80s mom and pop stores, to the corporate behemoth that gobbled them up, became Blockbuster Video, and eventually went bankrupt. Now, just one Blockbuster store remains, located in Bend, Oregon. Featuring interviews with Kevin Smith, Ron Funches, Doug Benson, and Bend, Oregon’s delightful store manager Sandi Harding (among a host of others), The Last Blockbuster is a wry, nostalgic look back at the ups and downs of video store culture and a bygone era for movie-fans everywhere.

Jumbo
A strange and beguiling love story
Shy, awkward Jeanne (Noémie Merlant, “Portrait of a Lady on Fire”) lives a solitary life, living at home with her mother and working the late shift at the nearby amusement park. She’s content keeping mostly to herself, until the arrival of the park’s brand-new attraction: a neon-lit tilt-a-whirl she dubs Jumbo. Jeanne finds herself increasingly drawn to the ride, and though not everyone understands this passionate new relationship, she falls giddily, head-over-heels in love. Making her feature debut, writer-director Zoé Wittock tells a sweet, strange, and heartfelt romance unlike any you’ve seen before.
