A Mysterious, Dread-Filled Thriller
In the midst of mourning a beloved village matriarch, the residents of a small rural Brazilian town Bacurau discover that their communications with the outside world have been cut off, and the town has been inexplicably erased from every map. Seeking answers, the citizens of Bacurau must band together if they have any hope of surviving this deadly threat from the outside world.
Winner of the Jury Prize at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, Bacurau is a genre-bending action-thriller that starts off as a rich portrait of a close-knit Brazilian community before veering off into spaghetti western and exploitation territory. Plus Udo Kier, ghosts, UFOs, and an eclectic soundtrack featuring John Carpenter!
